Rodgers Hails ‘Outstanding’ Celtic As They Cruise To Win Over Aberdeen

NewsNow brings you all of the latest Aberdeen FC news, transfer rumors, and match reports from Pittodrie Stadium.

Celtic remain on course to claim consecutive Scottish domestic trebles under manager Brendan Rodgers, but there remains room for improvement. Rodgers acknowledged the contributions made by young players Hyunjun Yang and Luis Palma.

    Hyunjun Yang and Luis Palma

After suffering an embarrassing defeat at Atletico Madrid last weekend, Celtic made their domestic comeback in style against Aberdeen with an easy victory at Parkhead. Hyunjun Yang and Luis Palma’s striking displays from both flanks contributed significantly to Celtic’s win, leaving their opponents completely dazed.

The Wingers may not have had much time to bond but they looked like an efficient machine against the Dons. Palma set up Yang for their opening goal after Odin Holm’s corner hit Kyogo’s feet; unfortunately his shot was saved by Kelle Roos.

Palma then found David Turnbull for another goal, who fired low past Willie Collum from inside his area. Oh’s two-goal performance off the bench completed a successful day for Celtic. Even with Kyogo leaving early due to an injury sustained to his head, Rodgers will take great comfort from this result as it softens the blow of their Champions League exit to AEK Athens while maintaining their lead at the top.

    Moussa Dembele

Frenchman Anthony Martial has been an instant hit since joining Celtic in 2016, scoring 22 goals during his inaugural Scottish Premiership season. Former Fulham and Lyon striker, Martial has one year remaining on his contract, so could become available next summer.

Reo Hatate was a constant problem for Aberdeen’s defence all afternoon, striking with powerful drives into goalkeeper Craig Gordon in both halves to threaten an Aberdeen comeback that ultimately failed. Aberdeen were caught out when Reo Hatate launched a swift counter attack that ultimately proved too much for them.

Dembele comes from a musical family; his grandfather was an expert craftsman of traditional African instruments such as the balafon, ngoni and kora. Additionally, his grandfather taught music lessons and earned awards at European Youth Championships 2012. Dembele has become known as one of the world’s most exciting young talents for his performances at youth level football matches in France; having won 50 caps during this period alone!

    Scott Sinclair

Sinclair exuded confidence as Celtic attacked with great success against Aberdeen at home, darting past Aberdeen defenders to create space for others around him and providing key contributions in terms of teamwork. He led from the front, creating openings in his own way while creating space for others around him.

Rodgers knew his team needed to show more passion than Atletico Madrid had on Tuesday and against PAOK on Thursday in Glasgow’s east end, and they did just that with Yang and Kyogo Furuhashi both scoring early goals as the champions put behind them their Champions League frustration.

Carl Starfelt made it 3-0 before Hyeon-gyu Oh scored twice off the bench to seal their Scottish Premiership championship win in style on the final day. Helen Flanagan posted an Instagram video tagging Bristol Rovers winger Hyeon-gyu Oh as they visited their children Matilda, Charlie, and Delilah at their former family home.

    Oliver Ntcham

Some Celtic fans were dismayed at Oliver Ntcham’s performance against Aberdeen, perhaps his overly passive style or lack of effort against an Aberdeen side that put out plenty of work. Ntcham certainly left an impression he wasn’t willing to pull his weight and do his share of dirty work against an adversary like Aberdeen.

But Ntcham may be underrated as well. While Gregor MacGregor or Rogic dominate their games more, he brings another level of composure and domineering calmness that offsets his physical presence.

Ntcham is still only 22-years-old, yet he has made great strides since arriving from Manchester City last summer. A star player on an upward trajectory, it should come as no surprise when he recently signed a new deal at Paradise that extends his stay until 2022.
